In this article, we shine a spotlight on typical exclusions and conditions which apply under Medical Malpractice Insurance policies.
This exclusion is aimed at preventing the removal of any human tissue that may be cancerous, for example, skin tags, moles, or any form of growth or cell by any means.
Insurers may provide relief from this exclusion where a third party, licensed, UK medical practitioner has provided written confirmation that the human tissue is non-cancerous. The Map my Mole screening service will usually be an acceptable alternative, however, please check the policy wording and/or contact us first should you carry out these treatments. Always keep the written confirmation or screening results with the patient’s records for a minimum of ten years.
There may, in exceptional circumstances, be occasions when the above types of pre-assessments are not available. Please review the cover available under the policy and refer to us prior to any procedure taking place and we will advise you under what circumstances, if any, cover would be afforded under your policy.
Please contact us for more information if these exclusions or conditions cause you concerns in the context of your business.
